  • Danh Tran, the Vietnam born founder of Buttercloth, harnessed the spirit of the American Dream in bringing the business to life. He grew up working in his family? tailoring shop. By the mere age of ten, he was designing and sewing his own clothes. His family immigrated to California in 1994 and Danh? career in clothing really grew from there. Danh is a graduate of Otis College of Art and Design. Upon graduation he was recruited to work for a clothing company. He bounced around a few different companies until landing a job at Affliction Clothing where he was head designer for ten years. Dress shirts were always an issue for Danh. He hated the stiff nature of the garment. He set out to find a solution to the uncomfortable dress shirt and landed upon using a blend of 100% long fiber cotton and a unique manufacturing process. Danh had pioneered a new fabric name ?uttercloth·that was incredibly breathable and stretchy. The creator compliments the fabric with the saying, ?akes you look like a Friday night, but feel like a Sunday morning.· Once the fabric was engineered, Danh took the leap. He quit his job, sold his house and invested 401k into the Buttercloth company.
  • The brand? investors include well-known public figures such as Los Angeles Lakers star, Metta World Peace and ABC? Shark Tank host Robert Hervajec. In October of 2018, Shark Tank reached out to Mr. Tran and invited him to be featured on the popular television series to pitch his product. The Buttercloth founder made a $250,000 deal with investor Robert Herjavec on television. The investor was impressed by the ingenuity of the product. Most everyone can relate to a good American Dream story and Danh Tran gives his customer base a great story. Cons:

Buttercloth's product line is very small. Opening up the line to provide more items made from the same innovative fabric might increase sales. The innovative Buttercloth material seems like it would be a great fabric to make loungewear out of which could include bottoms and womens wear.

Customer service is very important to user satisfaction. Buttercloth's website provides a contact us link all the way at the bottom of the page. In order to provide easier access to a service helpline, the tab could be displayed more prominently on the website.

Creativity within a brand's direction is what sets companies apart from one another. After reviewing various different men's dress shirt company sites, Buttercloth's look and brand image has an almost identical advertising scheme. There is no quality to the advertising that makes Buttercloth? products visually stick out from its competitors.
